Lupus may have been my Burden but I have Grown over the years to know that it has also been my BLESSING! I will explain why but first I will give you a Glimpse of my Life and its wonders, regardless of Lupus.
My name is Wilda RIggs and I am 35 years of age, born July 15, along with my twin brother Wallace Riggs. I have been diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erytheomatosis at the age of seven around June 1990 and my Twin Brother was diagnosed in November 1999. My twin and I may have Lupus we do not share all of the same problems. Everyone is Unique and Having Lupus, as any other Chronic Illness affects everyone Differently. Lupus has given me the Scars, Fatigue, Constant Joint pain and Chest pain: Interstitial Lung Disease. However my twin brother may have some joint pain and light fatigue but he has been managing his health well, regardless of being diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis. My twin brother is a Diesel Mechanic and I am very Proud of him. YOU ROCK WALLO!
Regardless of the pain I have learned to live with , I developed a Love for Dancing and Writing. Dancing always felt like freedom but Writing about my pain allowed others to understand that I fight and battle this Fight with my Body alone and Understanding and Support are very Important. My mother loved reading and she would have me read magazines, books about my illness, at the age of seven, and anything that could better my imagination and understanding of Life all around. I am thankful for my mother for making sure I READ my butt off. Anyway, I enjoyed just having a Diary about my days, good or bad, and I began to rhyme, which brought about my poetry. I way my words flowed just kept me in a Good Space with my life and becoming more Accepting with Lupus. I Love to be as detailed as possible so understand that my words will be as pure and true to me as I hope it can be for the person reading as well.My story defines my Trials and tribulations I have experienced with Lupus and just Life itself. I am strong and confident with my writing and I believe that I have been chosen to tell my story. I am not afraid To FALL because I will get back UP again. I am a Firm Believer that Happiness can not be Established without Pain through Our Lives. Pain brings Strength, Growth, and Maturity as well as Understanding that Everyone has a Story and no one should Judge: Empathy, Apathy, and Sympathy plays such an Important Role! Lupus: My Life, My Phenonmenal Journey 20 years Later is meant too educate, inspire, heal, and motivate individuals in my situation or similar situations. With Lupus, I have been bullied with the way I looked from the medicine and physical changes from Lupus as well as not being able to attend events in Junior High, being that I was a Cheerleader. I am only writing a glimpse of the good and bad but my parents always made sure that I stay positive, speak my mind, never be afraid to take a step further and nothing is wrong with taking the harder road. Strength always starts from within. WE have been blessed with three beautiful blessings, of which, Aariyah is my oldest and Rick and Raven or Twins! We were surprised to get pregnant and have twins! My children have embraced my Life with LOVE THAT IS UNCONDITIONAL AND HOW APPRECIATIVE AND THANKFUL WE ARE FROM THEM. My children teach me so much and I always look unto them for strength and courage! Being a MOTHER ROCKS!! I SMILE and continue to be POSITIVE because Life is about living in the moment and being happy and healthy!! God Bless!!! I have always kept my children informed and educated about Lupus and I speak to them and answer whatever questions they may ask. Life has its Bittersweet moments but my children will not be left in the dark because of my illness. Mommy will continue to Fight AARIYAH, RICK JR, AND RAVEN! |
